In 1847-Louis-Francois Cartier took over the ownership of the jewelry workshop he inherited from his master and established his own in the center of Rue Montorgueil- a posh and luxurious upper-class street lined with famous restaurants, cafes, cheese, wine and flower shops, produce stands and other fanciful trendy shops in Paris, France. Twenty-seven years later, in 1874- his son Alfred Cartier replaced him in the supervision and administration of the shop. It was then Alfred’s sons namely: Louis, Pierre and Jacques who took charge in expanding the business worldwide.

Then, in 1904- Alberto Santos-Dumont, a famous aviator and inventor and an heir of a prosperous coffee producer in Brazil, criticized of the credibility and trustworthiness of pocket watches while flying with his friend Louis Cartier. It was then, Cartier himself designed a different customized creation, thus the birth of “Santos-Dumont” small model wrist watch made in 1904- as a gift and honor to his friend. The tiny screws surrounding it signifies Cartier’s timeless creation.

Today, a selection of those trendy, classy and stylish Cartier timepieces are found in all shops worldwide. And it only mean one thing- “Cartier”- is so popular worldwide that anybody wants to acquire a single timepiece or if not a collection of all those replica watches for a least cost than the original price.
